Learned to do two peices of tape, inner and outer, to each eye and then add the gel pad. a full 100% lashing takes me two hours right now. I bought little scissors that I can give to FULL appointments for 'bang trims'.

December 2016
12/27/16 Biggest learning moments over the last few applications have been to place the gel pads and then 'pull' them into place so that I can access the inner lashes. If I need to I will also hold the pad down while placcing 3-5 inner lashes with the other hand. I also place a small vertical piece of tape holding the inner lashes before placing the gel patch. I will ONLY use B7mm or 8mms on the inner lashes. It has the most natural effect. Also, I have seen a lot of people in eyelash forums talk about the amount of glue they use. I have watched so many videos that I feel that I have the best technique because I've combined all of the expert advice. One semi big/medium drop about 1mm from the bottom, touch it to the lash and let it suction itself to the side. I apply lashes mostly to the side of the natural lash, it adds a bit of the volume effect and it is a nice placement outcome. I've also discovered that the glue I use is the BEST. I am able to lash in all temps and humidity. My hygrometer has even read 80F and 50H and it has been fine. Humidity is the most important. I just purchased a full tray of faux mink in 9mm.07C for bald spots and to add to the outer lashes which tend to be very sparse.
12/9/16 Second lash appointment is complete! Beautiful cat eyes. Starting to really get the understanding of direction and going back and forth between eyes. Also to go back and forth in quadrants using somewhat of a modified FOIL (if you remember math in elementary lol). Less glue is KEY. if you are pulling up and using a dot of glue, it is TOO much! My other major revelation at this point is just how hard it is to tape the eyes without the tape loosening itself or lifting and getting in the way of adding lashes. I had to tape and undo tape all throughout the second application, not fun for client, not fun for me. And last but not least in this revelation segment, it is super important to lessen the amount of glue done on blonde eyelashes. (12-9-16)
12/5/16 Couple of big revelations so far and it is only the beginning of the month. I think I would prefer to do extensions while the client in sitting in a recliner. Also, the glue dries out SO fast. SO fast. I realize I was not in the right temp/humidity so I bought a hygrometer to tell me if I am in the right zone and whether I need to humidify or de-humidify. When that comes in I'll be able to get into that. Back to the glue, I saw a few posts that said that the glue stickers are the size they are so that every 15 minutes or so (given that you are in the right temp/humidity) are meant to hold multiple glue dots. Not on top of each other. This makes me feel better, however it brings up the concern of how many drops am I going to need per full lashing and relashing..
Another thing I realized was that I should try the slanted tweezers for isolating. I am going to give it a go today. I was using straight tweezers for isolation and curved ones for lashing, BUT straight is really difficult! My brother's gf, Tara, is helping me through the initial worries and how she felt that she wasn't her best right away either. I just need to get a few of my live models done and then throw down another 20 live models, and then another. This si the only way I will feel comfortable! (12-5-16)
First full lash application complete. It is a day later and my back is KILLING me. I have decided to try the next appt sitting in a massage chair as opposed to using a massage stool. Also, the glue I am using works really REALLY well and has minimal fumes and FAST drying time. But, even considering the drying time, I ned to go back and forth, eye to eye, to allow the glue to cure as much as posible before pushing the eyelash aside for a new isolation. I switched the teezer set up I was using- I now have the curved tweezers in my left hand for isolation and the angled tweezers in my right hand (using 4 fingers to hold) for my selection and placement. The appt took about 2 hours if I don't consider talking time before and after. And I would really prefer to try a recliner because leaning over the bed was just too hard. Eyewear is out, it is too dificult to see the lashes with the magnification- weird.

November 2016
The inaugural month of persuing my Eyelash passion. This is new! I have always had long eyelashes and I know I personally love getting complimented on them. I've even applied the Sally Hansen lashes to some of my friends WAY back in the day. Lashes are the best! However, I am in a tricky situation with the Massage Studio in its 6 month and not really doing as well as I was hoping. We are pumping more money out (initial decorating and operational, plus marketing and rent month over month) and I have this deep need to find a way for me to contribute to the family bottom line all while doing something that I can be very satisfied with. Enter the Eyelashing industry!
The closest I have come to working on faces would be the countless ear piercings that I did while working at Claires for 2yrs in my 20s. I am comfortable with being this close to someone's face, but I do not want to mess up in any way. That's my hesitation. I started building my kit of everything I think I would need from the youtube videos and the tutorials online giving their tips and secrets away. My kit items started arriving in the mail and the tupperware I bought to hold them all is pretty full! The biggest realization for me was when I got in the mixed length B lashes. They are so SMALL! But then I needed to remind myself that they are going to help accentuate a really small area of the face- but in a big way depending on the pattern I apply. I also needed to train myself on how to pull each one off of the strip without kinking them. I pull them off slowly to the side. It is working so far. I bought a really cool magnifier set of lighted glasses and right now they make me feel like I have been on a roller coaster all day. Not very good for the brain... And my Mannequin, Tasia, is an okay model for me. Her false trainer eyelashes are not easy to isolate as compared to trying to isolate Michael's.
I've reviewed about 100 tutorials on lashing and proper technique, set up, process, etc. I knew in my heart that I wasn't going to be the best at this right away, but man, I thought I would at least have some natural talent LOL. Lets see what December 2016 brings....
